My memories of Janet are mostly from being classmates at Riverview Grade and being on the same softball team one summer, with her Dad being one of the coaches.  I think she had one of the best smiles of anyone I have ever known.

Biography  

     Janet Gayle Essington, 49, of East Peoria, passed away at 5:50 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at home.
     Janet was born on November 28, 1957 in Peoria, daughter of Gene Gary and Bernadine Kay Weast Gerdom. They survive, in East Peoria.
     Janet is also survived by her daughters, Melanie Brown of Peoria and Cassandra Essington of East Peoria; sons, Nathan Brown of Peoria and Cody Essington of East Peoria; sister, Cheryl Gerdom of East Peoria; brothers, Howard and Mark Gerdom, both of Peoria; and her boyfriend, Rolland (Boobie) Miller, of East Peoria.
     Janet was a bartender for the Brass Key in East Peoria and was formerly employed at Ron’s Rack and Brogy’s in East Peoria.
     Janet was a fan of the Chicago Bears, loved listening to country music and playing pool. She was a former member of the Central Illinois Pool League and the American Pool Players Association. She enjoyed spending her time with her friends: Gladys and Steve Pericak, Ellen and Gary Brogan, Margaret Miller and Kim from the Brass Key.
     Janet was happiest spending time with her family, watching television, lounging in her pool and being wherever Boobie was. She was proud of her four children and was a fun, happy and a loving mother, sister and daughter.
     A memorial visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday, February 5, 2007 at Clary Funeral Consultants, 1625 Candletree Drive in Peoria. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to Kids Konnected at the Hult Education Center in Peoria, www.peoriakidskonnected.org/.
